Christmas always
brings salvation, peace, hope, joy and good will to the world.
Millions are born and die every day but the birth of Jesus Christ is
always distinctive and incomparable. It has a special purpose and
meaning in human history. “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth
peace, good will toward men” (Luke 2:14). This was the Happy
Birthday song of the angels to Jesus. He was called “God” before His
human birth in history. Isaiah 9:6 says, “He shall be called
wonderful, counseller, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the
Prince of Peace.” The manner and place of His birth is announced in
Isaiah 7:14, and Micah 5:2 “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you
are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one
who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from
ancient times.” “The Virgin will be with child and will give birth
to a son and we will call Him Immanuel.” Matthew 1:23
So the birth of
Jesus Christ is distinctive, superior, and incomparable with any
religious leader either in the past or present. He existed before
the creation of world and father Abraham (John 17:5; 8:58). Time
Table and calendar came into existence because of Christ’s birth.
Human history is controlled by this event. Jesus Christ came to the
Jews as a king and to the world as Saviour of mankind. Nature
celebrated Christmas; so we see the stars in the sky which guided
the three Kings to Bethlehem where Jesus was born.
Let us see the
following 10 reasons why Jesus Christ came into this world according
to the Bible.
1. TO SAVE THE
SINNERS
“Jesus Christ came
to the world to save sinners” (1 Tim. 1:15; Luke 19:10; John 1:29;
3;17)
2.
TO FULFILL THE LAW
“I have not come to abolish the
law or prophets but to fulfill them” (Matt. 5:17; Gal. 2:16; 3:10,
13)
3. TO DESTROY THE
EVIL ONES
“The reason the
son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work”. (1 Jn. 3:8;
12:31)
4. TO GIVE LIFE
“I have come that
they have life and have it to the full” (Jn. 3:16; 10:10, 28; 14:6;
20:31)
5. TO TESTIFY TO
THE TRUTH
“I came into the
world to testify to the truth. And for this reason I was born.” (Jn.
8:32; 14:6; 18:37)
6. TO JUDGE THE
WORLD
“For judgment I
have come into the world”. (John 9:39; Acts 17:31)
7. TO SERVE OTHERS
“For the Son of
man did not come to be served but to serve and to give His life as a
ransom for many.” (Mk. 1:41; 10:45; Matt. 14:14; Lk. 7:15)
8. TO BE THE KING
OF JEWS
“Where is the one
who has been born king of the Jews? We saw His star in the east and
have come to worship him” (Matt. 2:2)
9. TO GIVE PEACE
“Peace I leave
with you, my peace I give you”. (Jn 14:27). “Glory to God in the
highest, and on earth Peace, Good will toward men” (Luke 2:14)
10. TO REVEAL THE
FATHER
“For I have come
down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of Him who
sent me”. (John 6:38; 1:18; 8:42; 17:4-6)
Jesus
Christ was born in a poor carpenter’s family. He has a special place
for the orphans and widows. When we celebrate this Christmas let us
show our love in action to those who are in need. May the Lord God
Almighty bless you at this Christmas time!
