Update on Healthcare at ICMC by Pastor Jay  Oct 2007

My desire and aim is to give best health care to all children.  My daughter Neva is doing marvelous works on Saturdays and Sundays for better health care of the children. She has spoken to various Doctors at her University to conduct Medical camps at the Promised Land. She has done a great job vaccinating all the children at the House of Peace orphanage, Timothy students and the staff at ICMC.

1) We have vaccinated all the children at the Promised Land, Eden Garden , Salem Children, Timothy students and all the staff at the House of Peace orphanage with

                        Typhoid Vaccine

                        Hepatitis – B I and II dose

                        Hemophilus Influenza – B

All the vaccination details are maintained very accurately. As far as I know the House of Peace orphanage is the only orphanage that has vaccinated all the children, no orphanage will do so and had done so far.

The  hepatitis – B  III dose and MMR vaccination will be done at the end of Nov – December.

2) The Multivitamin tablets and the Iron tablets are issued to all the children under supervision. The nurses and the teachers stand by the children with water and make sure they take it. Children take bath properly and their clothes are washed by the widows.

3) The smaller children and the sick children are provided with milk every morning and evening.

4) Egg is given to all our children in the orphanage for 3 days a week.

5) Chicken/beef/pork is given to all our children in the orphanage on every Sundays.

6) Our staff purchases fresh and more vegetables, grains for the use of their food.

7) Every evening all our children are provided with banana/biscuits/various kinds of beans/orange/peanuts/cake/tea. (Banana, orange, peanuts are cultivated in our land)

8) Purified drinking 3 water plant is placed at various areas in the Promised Land for the children to drink. A big unit to purify the whole of the well water will be done soon and it is on process it will be done as the Lord provides money. Purified water helps to decrease the rate of disease.

9) Separate man and women are appointed to clean up the toilet everyday. Good sanitation is maintained.

10)  Neva has arranged a Dental camp for all the children. This will be done in a couple of weeks. Good beds are provided with bed-sheets for children.

11) Separate sick rooms for the girls and the boys are provided. Water heater is provided at the sick room.

12) Arrangements for various camps from the University where Neva studies is under process.

13) The nurses gives treatment to all the children for scabies regularly. Much money spent on dental care for all children – filling and fixing new teeth for big boys and girls.

14)The smaller children are helped to take bath by the wardens and their clothes are being washed properly by the widows.

15) Now we have 3 nurses working at the Promised Land and 1 at Eden Garden. One of the nurses is being sent for training in the pediatric ward in Vinayaka Mission hospital. (Neva studies in this college) So she will surely gain knowledge and will know better how to treat the children with the right medicine.

A Doctor in the Vinayaka Missions hospital has agreed to train our nurses. We have told him to find a nice Doctor who could stay and work for the children.

16) Sakunthala, aged 11 years, diagnosed with Mitral valve stenosis will be operated by two week time. So please pray for her and it costs over 50,000 rupees just for one girl it is ok because she is precious in the sight of God.

If any child needs any kind of medical treatment, we give them in the best hospitals at any cost. Many children in our orphanage had been operated for appendicitis, tonsillectomy, Removal of Dental caries and root canal treatment , children are checked for vision and spectacular provided.

All kinds of orthopedic treatment given to the children when they break their arms, and leg by climbing coconut trees …etc, children with thyroid and rheumatic arthritis, wheezing trouble identified, treatment given and follow up done. The sick children are taken to the Doctor near by for bacterial, viral fever etc. every evening. A driver with a van is always ready to take the children to the hospital if needed. All above things are done by the support we receive for medical purpose.

We have three good Christian hospitals in the city and another Hindu hospital about 10 kilometers away from the Promised Land. Whenever the children are sick, we do not admit them in the Government hospital which is free of cost because they do not take good care of the patient. We take our children to the private hospitals and spend the needed money for their treatment even if it is very expensive. Dr.David Rajan takes good care of the children when we admit them in the Hindu Hospital. We are searching for a Doctor to work at the Promised Land either part time or full time. So please do pray that the Lord will provide a good doctor for the Promised Land.
